Scripture quotations marked (KJV) are taken from the Holy Bible, King James Version.
Scripture quotations marked (RAB) are taken from my active and ongoing study of God’s Holy Word; including over twenty previous translations as well as the original Hebrew and Greek text (and the original word meanings) of the Old and New Testaments, respectively.
An example of these resources can be found here @ http://biblehub.com/john/3-36.htm
And here @ http://biblehub.com/text/john/3-36.htm
And, for example, as you can see at the link, above, where the King James Version correctly translates the Greek word, “pisteuon,” (which IS a verb meaning to, “believe” or to, “have faith in”) as, “believith” it also, however, incorrectly translates the Greek word, “apeithon,” as “believeth,” as well… while the later is a verb meaning, to “disobey” & to “rebel.”
So, in THIS case (but NOT in all cases) the New Living Translation is closer to the original text than the KJV is… and it says, “And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”
Therefore, the particular translation that I use, in each particular case,… will be the version that best relays the spirit (and the Spirit) of the original Words spoken or penned…
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:20-21, (KJV)
“Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.” 2 Peter 1:20-21, (NLT)
(RAB) – What they said!!! And, THIS “prophet” says, “ye do well that ye take heed,” to what THOSE prophets said!!!
And, if anyone wants to “argue over words” take it somewhere else!!! AND, I charge you before the Lord that you, “strive not about words to no profit,” (KJV)!!!
I must also point out that I have dyslexia (a language learning, and communication, disability – and it is TRULY one of God’s miracles that I ended up doing this, however)… my punctuation and sentence structure is not always 100% correct AND my paragraph structure is such that it makes it easier for me (and anyone else with dyslexia, or not) to read… I think… I hope…
But, I also know that my style of writing may be hard for some to understand… and, in such cases… I apologize!!!
My goal is to make all of this REAL SIMPLE… so, if it is not “simple” to you then the Bible says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5, (KJV)
The New Living Translation renders the Verse this way, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
AND, He will also NOT “rebuke you” for reading and obeying the New Living Translation of His Holy Word, EITHER!!!
