What the Bible Says About: Abiding in Christ

Here are several Scriptures which make clear what exactly it means to abide in Christ:

Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine,
and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in Me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who
remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. Anyone who
does not remain in Me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a
pile to be burned. But if you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want,
and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are My true disciples. This brings great glory
to My Father.
John 15:4-8 (NLT)

If You Keep My Commandments - smaller

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
Psalm 125:1 (KJV)

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
1 John 2:10 (KJV)
(That is, he who loves his brother according to God’s definition of love, not the world’s definition of it.)

Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him.
1 John 3:6 (KJV)

Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments,
you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
John 15:9-10 (KJV)

I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in Me will no longer
remain in the dark.
John 12:46 (NLT)

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.
1 John 2:6 (KJV)

And he that keepeth His Commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth
in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.
1 John 3:24 (KJV)

Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the
teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.
2 John 1:9 (NLT)

And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be
ashamed before Him at His coming.
1 John 2:28 (KJV)
