I don’t want to miss any opportunity in which I can learn the lessons that You would teach me. I learn so much through Your word, Lord, and I ask that You help me to retain that knowledge, and help me to put it into practice.
Thank You for the fact that Your word is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12). Thank You for speaking to me through it, and for all the other ways that You’ve spoken to my heart, God.
Thank You for teaching me as I study Your Word. There have been many times when You have brought passages from Your word to my remembrance just when I needed them. I know this is the work of Your Holy Spirit, Lord, because You promised it (John 14:26). I am so thankful for every question that has burdened my heart that You have answered. I also thank You for every time that You have convicted me of sin and how You have shown me the right way to live.
Your Word tells me that You love those You chasten. As You lovingly correct me, may I always welcome it and yield to You, remembering it is a sign of Your love, and that, though it may be painful, it is always for my betterment.
Your Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. Thank You for being my Teacher. Thank You for teaching me Your truth. This world is full of people who twist Your Words to fit their own agendas and to promote false doctrines, like the woefully errant notion that we don’t have to obey You, anymore. I want no part of that, Lord. I don’t want lies that make the flesh feel good. I want Your perfect, pure truth. No matter how deeply it cuts, I want Your truth, because Your truth brings healing. The lies of Satan, although they can be appeasing to the flesh, only bring death. I love Your truth, Lord. Help me to live it and to teach it to others.
I love You Lord.

Prayers from the heart is a series of short prayers written with the intent of helping you in your prayer time. There is no ‘magic formula’ to prayer, and no set of written words that will make whatever you want happen. Simply pray from your heart, be honest with your Heavenly Father and remember that He loves you. If this prayer or any other prayers from this series make a good starting point for you, please feel free to use them!
Here are a few helpful scriptures about prayer, as well:
And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey Him
and do the things that please Him.
1 John 3:22
You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will,
He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
1 John 5:14-15
Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—
you want only what will give you pleasure.
