Prayers from the Heart: Thanking God for His Sovereignty and Goodness

God is Always There and Sovereign Over All

Abba Father,

Thank You for all the times that You’ve comforted me when I’ve been in pain. Your warm embrace of Fatherly love is incomparable. The peace You give me does indeed surpass understanding. It’s such a wonderful gift, Lord, and I thank You for it.

I don’t have to panic and fret over any circumstance, because I know that You are in control, and work all things for my good. There are so many things that I have no control over, and at times that may cause me to feel helpless. Remind me when those times arise, Lord, that You’re still there, sovereign over all. Thank You for Your sovereignty.

Thank You Lord, for being with me, for loving me, and for hearing me. I may wish that life were easier and less painful, but I know that it’s good for me to go through these things. You use them to help me grow, but most importantly, You are with me through them, and they remind me how much I need You.

Lord, I always need You. Thank You for never leaving me. You are all I really need.

Prayers from the heart is a series of short prayers written with the intent of helping you in your prayer time. There is no ‘magic formula’ to prayer, and no set of written words that will make whatever you want happen. Simply pray from your heart, be honest with your Heavenly Father and remember that He loves you. If this prayer or any other prayers from this series make a good starting point for you, please feel free to use them!

Here are a few helpful scriptures about prayer, as well:

And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey Him
and do the things that please Him.
1 John 3:22

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
Matthew 21:22

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will,
He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
1 John 5:14-15

Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—
you want only what will give you pleasure.
James 4:2b-3
