There are times when thinking about the future tempts me to fear. I don’t know exactly what lies ahead, but I’m reminding myself that You do. I want You to prepare me for whatever lies ahead for me, Lord. I want to be deeply rooted in You, deep enough so that Satan can no longer tempt me to doubt You, and so I can stand for You no matter what the cost will be.
You said in Your word that all who wish to live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). I realize that each of Your children will have their own persecutions to face for Your sake and the Gospel’s, some losing friends, family, jobs, and even their lives. Lord, I pray that You would comfort my brethren in these sufferings, and give them grace and strength to face whatever the enemy may throw at them. May we count it as joy to suffer for You, and may it only serve to strengthen our faith and testimony of You. May You be glorified through it all, Jesus.
Prayers from the heart is a series of short prayers written with the intent of helping you in your prayer time. There is no ‘magic formula’ to prayer and no set of written words that will make whatever you want happen. Simply pray from your heart, be honest with your Heavenly Father and remember that He loves you. If this prayer or any other prayers from this series make a good starting point for you, please feel free to use them!
Here are a few helpful scriptures about prayer, as well:
And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey Him
and do the things that please Him.
1 John 3:22
You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will,
He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
1 John 5:14-15
Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—
you want only what will give you pleasure.
